1. Understand acrylic materials

Acrylic, also called PMMA or Acrylic. The chemical name is polymethyl methacrylate. It is an important plastic polymer material that has been developed earlier. It has good transparency, chemical stability and weather resistance, easy to dye, easy to process, and beautiful in appearance. It is used in the construction industry. Has a wide range of applications. Plexiglass products can usually be divided into cast plates, extruded plates and molding compounds.

2. Acrylic bottles are used in the cosmetics industry

In the field of cosmetic bottle packaging, acrylic bottles are widely used in the packaging of high-end creams, lotions and other cosmetics, and are well received by the market. Acrylic bottle not only has the characteristics of plastic: drop resistance, light weight, easy coloring, easy processing, low cost, etc., but also has the characteristics of glass bottle with beautiful appearance and high-quality texture. It allows cosmetics manufacturers to use the cost of plastic bottles to obtain the appearance of glass bottles, and it also has the advantages of resistance to falling and easy to transport. Acrylic packaging bottles have a wide variety, rich colors, and extremely excellent comprehensive performance, providing designers with diversified choices. They can be dyed, and the surface can be painted, screen printed or vacuum coated.

Acrylic packaging bottles have excellent transparency, light transmittance of more than 92%, good anti-aging performance, and can be used safely outdoors. Although acrylic bottles have achieved great success in the cosmetics market, they have not been widely used in other packaging fields such as food and medicine. This is also an area worth exploring and exploring for acrylic bottle manufacturers.

3. Acrylic processing technology

(1) Casting

Casting is used to form plexiglass plates, bars and other profiles, that is, the profiles are formed by bulk polymerization. After casting, the product needs to be post-treated. The post-treatment conditions are heat preservation at 60°C for 2h and heat preservation at 120°C for 2h.

(2) Injection molding

Injection molding uses pellets made by suspension polymerization and molding on a common plunger or screw injection molding machine. Injection molding products also need post-processing to eliminate internal stress. The processing is performed in a 70-80°C hot air circulating drying oven. The processing time depends on the thickness of the product, and generally takes about 4 hours.

(3) Extrusion molding

Polymethyl methacrylate can also be extruded, and plexiglass plates, rods, pipes, sheets, etc. can be prepared from particles produced by suspension polymerization. However, the profiles prepared in this way, especially plates, have a small molecular weight due to the low molecular weight of the polymer. The mechanical properties, heat resistance, and solvent resistance are not as good as cast-molded profiles. Its advantage is high production efficiency, especially for pipes and other molds when using casting methods. Difficult to manufacture profiles. Single-stage or double-stage vented extruder can be used for extrusion molding, and the ratio of screw length to diameter is generally 20-25.
